FAQ
what we believe in
We avoid Using PLA – We are Truly and Naturally Compostable
Polylactic Acid (PLA) is derived from plant-based raw materials wherein starch is extracted with the aid of enzymes. In consequence, lactic acid is produced, where harmful additives are added to lead to polymerization. It is said that PLA contains between 20 to 35% of harmful petroleum-based substances.
Due to this, we do not use PLA in any products. Our lids and waterproof linings utilized for our takeaway boxes have reinforced walls made from 100% cornstarch, likewise adopted for our room amenities packagings.
Aware that commercially composted goods are not suitable for many of the major cities around the world, our products are the closest to naturally compostable items in the market today.
We keep it simple.
Plant-Based By-Products
We focus on using plant-based materials such as bagasse or starch. Bagasse is the leftover dry, fibrous material after squeezing sugarcane stalks. Starch on the other hand is extracted from scrapped wheat that has been deemed unsuitable for use as food or cattle feed. We take this opportunity to use these otherwise useless substances, and produce naturally compostable products. Both have specific usages suitable for cold, hot or microwavable temperatures.
Kraft Paper From Wood
We use birch wood as well as bamboo fiber materials for our room amenities and our food & beverage line of products. These wooden materials are carefully fashioned to ensure decomposition within 90-180 days if correctly segregated.
We limit our usage of paper materials like kraft paper, because we love trees. However, we are able to produce kraft items only upon request, but when we do, we make sure that these are derived from recycled sources.
The Ink
We use water-soluble potato starch-ink for printing on our packagings, available today in siz colors. We do also do laser printing on wood items for our room amenities, subject to minimum quantity orders.
Common questions
Are your products biodegradable or compostable?
With the growing trend to go green, definitions of these two words are gaining more clarity. “Biodegradable” of an object simply refers to how fast a product disintegrates in natural conditions, whilst “compostable” means that when these products biodegrade (Often assisted by microorganisms in controlled environments), they leave behind no toxins. Nutrients are released instead, and given back to nature in the process.
Today, our food & beverage product line is completly compostable within a maximum of 180 days. Our room amenities, largely made of similar materials can contain metal at times (e.g shaving kits), that will need normal sorting out before proper disposal. More information is made available in our brochures.
Do you deliver worldwide?
Yes we do. We have customers in Hong Kong, Switzerland, the USA, and the UAE with storage and delivery options. We are in the process of finalizing distributorships in the areas. As former hoteliers, our priority is to sustain a high level of service before expanding further.
Do your products need special storage?
Our products are resilient. They can last for more than a year at room temperature. 85% humidity will not affect their shape and durability.
Are your F&B products able to withstand all service types?
Our products can withstand various types of conditions including refrigeration, microwaving, freezing, and storage inside hot kitchen cabinets.
We encourage you to test our products through samples we can provide. With your feedback, we can recommend diversified solutions that will suit your every need.
